We’re on the move …
All of the high school blogs will be under the lohud.com umbrella, starting July 30. So if you happen to have the current web address bookmarked, you’ll be automatically redirected to the new location.
Yes, there will be a few popular components affected by the move.
The objective of this change is to integrate all of our products into one system that will make for a more convenient experience for our readers. If this works as planned, lacrosse will get more exposure on lohud.com. Loyal readers will find game coverage, schedules, power rankings, features on a single page.
We are speaking with our IT guru about standings, too.
The change needed to be made before the upcoming school year, so Thursday afternoon is go time. I’m sure there will be some questions and sarcastic comments. You can email me at email@example.com and I’ll put the golf clubs down long enough to read and respond. We’re flexible and can entertain suggestions, too, if there’s anything you’d like to see more of.
I can address the two major concerns …
Yes, the blogs are going behind the pay wall. (Off the record, non-subscribers get 10 visits a month and any link I post on social media sites will get you around our gate keepers. If you’re new, follow @lohudlacrosse on Twitter and like our Lohud Sports page on Facebook. The comments will no longer be anonymous. If you want to be part of the conversation, you need to go through Facebook.
Here’s a list of Frequently Asked Questions:
Will I have to pay to read the blogs? If you already subscribe to lohud.com or The Journal News, you have unlimited access. If you don’t, a digital subscription runs $29 a year and gets you access to all lohud.com has to offer, including breaking news, features and additional sports coverage from across Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties. Non-subscribers will have limited access — 10 posts a month. No subscription will be required if you follow any links to our coverage that you find on social media.
What if I already subscribe to lohud.com? If you already pay for access to lohud.com, you have nothing to worry about. Your current subscription cost will include all blog-related content.
Will I still be able to comment on the blogs? Yes, but we’ll be using Facebook’s commenting system instead of a separate log-in. Simply comment using your Facebook account and choose whether to also share that comment with your Facebook friends. Anonymous commenting will no longer be permitted.
