It’s always good to see programs using lacrosse to spotlight a worthy cause.
Mahopac is hosting Somers at 1 p.m. and will be Playing for the Cure, and the girls are taking on Pearl River at 5:30 p.m. with the same purpose. The programs are raising funds to benefit the American Cancer Society. The annual event was started by former Indians varsity coach and cancer survivor Joe Corace.
The players, coaches and parents have purchased warm-up gear to support the cause. Fans will be asked for a donation, and there will be raffles during the games. The event raised $3,800 last year.
Please, bring a couple of dollars if you’re heading out to watch.
