The Empire Games was a great setup and the Empire teams were made up of rising seniors and younger players, not graduating seniors. What a pity that some of the spots on the team are being taken by graduating seniors who are all set for next year. Do you really think the college coaches who will be drawn to this tournament wants to see a player that is never going to play for that coach. The showcase should be for talented Hudson Valley lacrosse players who are rising seniors and younger. I think Empires did have an age cutoff and it was possible for graduating seniors who were of a certain age to try out, but I do not recall any ever doing that. Hey, if you want to play lacrosse and you are a graduating senior, try a summer league, there the competition is great and you may even enjoy the game. Whoever came up with this tryout plan should revisit it, because it is not reflective of what lacrosse is all about.
Who is a senior?
I agree with EmpiresRN4Seniors….My son graduated this June, is set to play in college and, when I asked if he wanted to give this team a shot, he told me that he felt it would not be fair to the younger guys who are still looking for their chance to show their stuff for the college coaches.
I cant believe that coaches from the westchester side took anyone from the Rockland side of the river, not sure if they had to make cuts but the kids taken from Suffern will be lost playing kids from top programs upstate, just curious.
If Coach Schurr is involved, he’ll cut four Seniors for ya!
No post for the All County teams?
Since you asked nicely, Al, I posted them.
Mike enjoy your summer. I’m going for internet addiction counseling and my goal is to stay off blogs until hockey season.
