Bronxville’s Brewster Warble and Shoreham-Wading River’s Ryan Sterns battle for a loose ball off the face-off during the NYSPHSAA boys lacrosse semifinals at Hofstra University in Hempstead June 6, 2012. A couple of thoughts … Shoreham-Wading River did a super job on defense, coming out in a zone and forcing Bronxville to slow down and take a look. … Dylan Bates, a long pole, did a great job of locking off Jack Grass. … Turnovers were a problem. When the Broncos attempted to dodge inside, the defense stepped up and sealed off the interior. … Eric Pass might’ve played his best game of the season, and gave Bronxville a reason to believe in the first half. … For some reason, the intensity fell in a hurry after the Wildcats got a couple of early goals after the break. … Credit goes to SWR, a much quicker and much deeper team.

I have to say I’m a bit shocked by this loss
what happened?
did Bronxville come out flat or was SWR just that much better?
why would they have tapered off like that…I certainly hope they were not fooling around in practice because they seemed very focused and I know they were going into this game really hard.
SWR is that much better. There are probably close to 50 lax programs per county on long island, and instead of their being a few elite teams that rise to the top, their are 20 strong programs in each county that can play with the best we have to offer, and their elite (West Islip, GC, Chaminade, St.A’s) can play with the best in the country !
SWR lost to GC by about the same margin as Town did. Their other loses were to Mountain Lakes, probably in the hunt for a jersey state title, Sayville who gave GC a somewhat competitive game.
SWR has Penn Yan next who just got by Homer, who upset Cazenovia, these are some of the programs some questioned when state rankings got posted…. should be a tougher challenge for SWR in the finals, no disrespect to Bronxville.
hmmm,
Agree but with the added comment that Bville looked intimidated, nervous, etc and played that way. SWR had to sense that which added to their already in-place confidence.
