This seeding sysytem is a joke. It rewards teams for playing weak schedules and punishes teams for playing a hard schedule. Put valley seeded 8th behind Keio and Kennedy. It is so sad.Hen Hud Crushed Kennedy in the regular season yet Kennedy is seeded much higher. Section 1 needs to go back to the power leagues. Look at Pville, tough schedule lose a lot of close games and get screwed being seeded 17th. They beat Croton 17-3 last year and Croton is seeded 3rd. The message section 1 is sending is play a weak schedule blow everyone out and dont try to challange your team, because if you do you will get a crappy seed.Keio and kennedy and Dobbs are a joke. Put valley who would kill either of those teams plays Bronxville in the Qtrs.. As usual Section 1 takes the easy road to appease the weak scholls and puts out a crappy product, they should be ashamed.
A quick follow up. Put valley beat Kennedy 12-3. The morons at section one put all the top teams on one side of the bracket and all the teams that play no one on the otherside. Bronxville, Put Valley, Byram,Pelham all on same side while Keio, Croton, dobbs and kennedy on the other. The joke is Section 1 handed Hen Hud a trip the the finals without having to play anyone.See how I do the final is Bronxville—Hun Hud….Now we get to listen to what a great team Kennedy is…. 12-3 agaist Put Valley says it all. I guess the parents run section 1 not anyone who has a clue about good lacrosse.
HEN HUD IS THE BEST TEAM IN THIS!!! WE’RE GOING TO WIN SECTIONALS!! THEN REGIONALS!! THEN STATES!! THEN NATIONALS!! LETS GO HEN HUD!!!
Hey Oldtimer why dont you go back and see who beat who per teams that your referring to. History says Dobbs did beat Put Valley in the beginning of the season.
I did not say they should be seeded above Dobbs Ferry, who played no one and lost to Irvington. Pelham did beat them played a much harder schedule and is seeded lower than Dobbs. Two of Pelham’s loses are against Bronxville, so section one penalized them for that.Strength of schedule should matter
EVERY YEAR EVERY SPORT PEOPLE CRY ABOUT SEEDINGS, THE BEST TEAMS WIN IN THE END SO IT DOESN’T MATTER. BY THE WAY DOBBS BEAT PV THIS YEAR!
The best team will win I agree and it is Bronxville by a huge margin. Just saying not fair that Put valley,Byram,Pelham and Bronxville all on the same side of bracket. Thay all played the hardest schedules
LACROSSE is the only sport were people think losing by ten goals to a great team is better than winning. henhud does not have a walk to the finals, yes they played some great teams but they lost every one. maybe next year dobbs should play yorktown jj etc. lose every game then everyone will say they are 0-16 but they played great teams. LET THE GAMES BEGIN
DF FAN—be good to see Dobbs v Croton game- if everyone stops crowning HH
You still have to play the games. Croton and Dobbs Ferry are not just going to lay down. Sailors will need to step it up and stay focussed. Good luck to all.
Lets see Dobbs played Pehlam very strong and lost by 2 goals (6-4) Lost to Irvington 11-10 in a game they should have won but they did beat them the first 2 games they played. Dobbs is a 2nd year varsity program so you have to give them some positives as to the success of their program. As for playing no one incorrect, is it their fault on how the schedule is laid out? NO it is not.
I agree Bronxville is the top team to beat. I just find it unfair that people continue to criticize a group of KIDS who have a lot of success. Unfair and simply not right. Give credit where credit is do.
Sailors Fan- good comment and HH is probably okay with not playing on that field- haha
Just saying, if put valley played DF today it wouldn’t be close. Sad that section one did the seeding this way. Put valley-bronxville should be a potential finals match up. Not a second round.
Laxfan you have no clue as to who DF is.
Observer, DF and Irvington split. They did not play three times this year. Both games were close, both programs relatively new.
Can’t argue with the top seed but everything else is a total joke. Go back to the years we used the power leagues and those teams got the top seeds because they played the best teams every year. The seeding always seemed to work out and you had the best teams playing in the semifinals and finals. The laxpower.com C rankings are more representative than this joke.
Cant wait for HH @ CH round 2… Great rivalry there. Pel V BH should be a good one
As for playing up; Town, LP, JJ etc don’t want to take games they are going to win by 15 goals. They go out and play the best teams from LI, CT and Cath League to speed up their game and get their teams ready for the State tourney. Trust me, coaches are out there asking for tougher schedules they have trouble getting them. Saw a game recently that took a team about 15min to adjust to the difference in speed and then were just fine. Playing up makes you a better team, case closed. Getting better teams to take the games they are playing “down” to their opponent is the hard part.
I think DF is great, considering it’s their 2nd year with a varsity program. People love to hate Dobbs. Don’t bet against them. During the football season, everyone swore Bronxville would take them behind the shed, but …
@ Rivertowns this isn’t football… look at the opponents each team played and their outcomes then try and argue it will be a close game. As for this bracket, it is a joke, enough said.
@ Section C, looking at games vs. like opponents is flawed logic…. Dobbs beaten by Irvington who they played 2 close games with. Dobbs played close with PV early in the year, close with Pelham late in the year, 2 goal game with Keio. CH also blew Keio out twice, and Irvington’s doors off both games but came out very slowly Vs PV… Different teams have different styles and match up differently… As for the football analogy, anybody else notice games this year being officiated like a match of patty cake?
laxpower ranking seems pretty accurate.

btown your correct dobbs irvington played only 2 times. to all do not take dobbs lightly they will surprise people. Best to all teams should be fun!!!!!!!
Not that they would have had a chance, but according to laxpower sleepy hollow is better than 3 teams that got an outbracket game, the horsemen also lost 5 games by only one goal including Dobbs irvingon and edgemont twice who are all strong teams. I heard that their coach would not let them go to the section tourney even if they made it because they weren’t atleast .500. Anyone know if this is true?
stop crying, its not like they came up with this system yesterday, it was in place way before the schedules came out
i doubt Put Valley is hoping to finish 2nd, would they rather play Bronxville at WP, maybe ? but they need to beat them to win the section, wouldnt it be nice to be at WP and not have to worry about Bronxville ?
Byram Hills, Pelham, Hen Hud BRONXVILLE Dobbs, Put Valley, Croton, Irvington, Kennedy
ahh Bronxville head and shoulders above the rest
pelham will be at white plains on the 30th
sitting in the bleachers, they’d have to beat Byram and Bronxville
