The Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley is the beneficiary of the annual Communities Collide day of lacrosse. It’s a fun event that brings together all of the youth teams from Shrub Oak and Somers for serious competition. They all get a chance to play in some atmosphere on the artificial turf. And the day concludes with a clash between the varsity teams from Lakeland/Panas and Somers.
Face off for that game is 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
I have an idea … Have you ever seen the Coaches vs. Cancer basketball games where the college coaches wear sneakers? I’m thinking Jim Lindsay and Lew Janavey should wear the Ronald McDonald shoes on the sideline.

Somers is hosting all of the games this year. The Ronald McDonald House is located on the grounds of the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla. Fans will be able to make a monetary donation or pick an item off the wish list below. All items must be new.
Gift cards: Visa, AMEX, Mastercard, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Depot, Babys R Us or Sam’s Club.
Infant/child house supplies: Baby bath tubs, dining booster seats, Pack-N-Play, Pack-N-Play sheets, car booster seats, safety bed rails, child-proof place settings.
General house supplies: Green cleaning products, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags (13, 33 and 45 gallon), large rolling laundry cart, housekeeping cart, vacuum cleaners, shop vac, plungers, hotel luggage cart, ice scrapers, rock salt, tool kit, high efficiency laundry detergent, Dreft laundry detergent, umbrellas, batteries, jumper cables, garden hose.

Other ways to donate: Sponsor a Family – Cover a family’s cost for a night. Although our actual costs are approximately $119/night, we ask for a donation of $15 per family per night. Host a Third Party Event – Get your community, schools, friends, and family involved and host a car wash, bake sale, jewelry party, etc. Get involved in our meal program – Our meal program is offered by local individuals, organizations, and corporations who are invited to visit our house and cook a meal for our families.
