There’s a Mark Knopfler lyric that plays in my head whenever I look to see who Somers is playing next.
“Sometimes you’re the windshield. Sometimes you’re the bug.”
On the heels of a tough loss to Yorktown, the Tuskers are playing host to St. Anthony’s (9-1), which is a timely goal away from being undefeated. It’s not the only marquee game on the slate. John Jay will be looking to upend another powerhouse when Ridgefield (8-1) comes over the border to play under the lights.
Greeley and Rye could have some interesting moments. Mahopac and Bronxville are likely to provide some entertainment.
I’m spending a rare Saturday off the field, so please share the score if you’re in the bleachers today. I’ll keep the phone handy and will re-tweet anything you send my way @LoHudLacrosse.com

Great Win Kennedy!
You forgot clarkstown south over tappan zee. Vikings were down 0-4 at halftime
Stepinac loses a tough one to (10 – 1 )St Dominick’s. 10- 9 at home.
Kennedy Beats North Salem 14-12. Best start in school history off to a 8-2 record. In just 3 years this program has come so far. Great job boys. Coaches you got it going on -Thanks!!!
Good for Kennedy, they’re on their way, but not there yet. Combined opponents record of 24-63 is nothing to get too excited about. Sav’s know how to schedule to recruit, they are smart coaches…
LOL Good point JF just OK. Savs should spend less time tooting their horn on blogs and message boards and more time working on developing there player’s skills which they never did at John Jay.
Croton still undefeated and put up a better result against Irvington than Dobbs did.
Ossining handled Nyack tonight, Nyack has had a few big rockland wins this year but Ossining looked at its best so far this year for a really young group.
Big rematch for them on the 1st @ ossining. Likely for league title, with ossining win they would split
Its never his fault!!!!!
“We have struggled with that all year,” Schurr said. “Maybe our sticks aren’t that good as defensemen or maybe we just panic. I don’t know. We should be able to clear the ball. These guys have a lot of experience. Why we are not clearing the ball is beyond me.”
I knew when Kennedy would get turned around that people would find an excuse to why the are winning. People just let it go and be happy for a program that was in the basement.
Is there any place to see the break down of A, B, and C boys lax teams? And to see the standings, records, and play off requirements?
I miss section1hockey.com!!

In response to Good Point’s comment, why don’t you go visit a practice at JFK to see if the Savs are working on player skills. I know for a fact the Savs spend the first hour of every practice just on stick skills alone. Wait it didn’t work at John Jay? So I guess 4 straight section titles and an appearance to the state finals were not credited to “players skills.”
The main point here is the Savs seem to be promoting themselves. It should be about the kids. ONLY the kids.
JFK plays the worst teams in New York State. Nothing impressive or to be proud of. They got destroyed by PV when they played them. Play some real competition before they give themselves more credit than deserved. For a school that can gain athletes from all over, they should be much better than they are. If they played in the catholic league like many people believe they should, they would be winless.
jfk has been playing the same teams every year since the program started about 10 years ago. the only difference is that they are beating those teams now. the kids at jfk are pushing themselves more and more each year to be better than the year before. they obviously arent at the same level as yorktown yet but the team and the program has come a long way in just a short time.
You know you’re finally making a splash when people care enough to complain about you.
Where was this hate when we were at the bottom?
Don’t give us too much credit, all we want is respect.
laxfan, too bad that no “recruits” as you say go to JFK for lacrosse. You get one in a blue moon. Kids would rather go to their public school such as Yorktown, lakeland, jay, or somers to play lax then play at JFK first of all. So the Savs are doing the best job they can do with the players available. The Savs are not promoting themselves “Good Point.” They are promoting the program because they are used to having people promote it for them like it was at John Jay.
The biggest joke of all is that half the comments on this blog are about JFK a team no one cares about that basically has beaten 8 glorified JV teams and lost there other 2 games against actual varsity teams.
Get dropped ENOUGH times that you are actually mentally disabled?
The Kennedy posts start from supporters glad to see a program on the rise. Then mental midgets come on here and decide to bash them. I would hope its out of boredom, that they are able to notice that the JFK fans don’t think Kennedy is a new power program. If some of these guys can’t tell that some supporters are just proud of their boys well than good luck to them, hope they don’t walk into oncoming traffic.
Every program that competes as a nysphsaa or chsaa varsity lacrosse program is a real varsity program. Some just aren’t very good, for a variety of reasons. If you are hating on them because you are a backup man-down d-mid and play about 3 mins a season that’s just sad that you need to attack others
