It’s a big crossover day, so more than a few of these match-ups could be lopsided.
There are two intriguing boys games. I’m heading over the bridge this afternoon to watch Suffern and Nanuet battle for the unofficial Rockland County title. Based on what I’ve seen, the Mounties have more talent and depth, but the Golden Knights are playing at home on the grass and they would probably mark this down as the biggest win in program history, so it should be interesting.
Keep an eye on Bronxville at Eastchester, too. It’s a game that could help the Eagles step up in reputation, and the Broncos are still learning to match the intensity of up-and-comers.

the suffern nanuet game is going to be a great one it should be a good test for both teams. my prediction…..
Suffern- 9
Nanuet- 5
Nanuet has had close encounters with much improved TZ and Pearl River teams, while Suffern’s wins against these same teams have been far more comfortable.
I’m a big fan of Nanuet’s offense and they’ll need there best game of the season for a win today. Should be a close game, but I’ll go with a 2 goal Suffern win, 9-7 score.
Nanuet Suffern tied at 3 after first quarter
Suffern 6
Nanuet 4 halftime
suffern 9
Nanuet 5
end of 3rd
Bville 17 Eastchester 7…..
Score update with Tappan Zee and Clarkstown South???
Girls lacrosse
The blog on this side has been very silent due to the passionate boys side. But I just saw the LP/Arlington score – 17-0. It is not right for the section to make decisions that are not good for anyone. These types of games were predicted and have happened too often this year. I am sure the parents would be happy to pick up the extra gas money for the return of the power leagues. I feel for the girls on both teams – this is not fun or what the sport should be about.
Clarkstown South 4 Tappen Zee 6. Kris Alleyene played awesome but i will admit, Tappen zee did hit a few pipes and hit him a couple of times as well.
oldschool..couldn’t agree more…..I don’t understand this money saving obfective…How much can it really cost to go across the Bridge…You could have a power league in Rockland ie…North Rockland,Suffern, C-South …than have PR,Nyack, Nanuet, and than a third tier North,TZ and AM….than each of these could be paired with 3 teams each from Westchester…..No need to go all the way to Brewster, Lakeland etc….but their are plenty of other well mathced teams ie
League A
Nanuet
Nyack
Pearl River
Bronxville
Rye
Pelham
League B
Suffern
North rockland
Clarkstown South
Mamaroneck
Scarsdale
Ossining
League C
Albertus
Clarkstown north
TZ
Sleepy hollow
Harrison
Pleasantville
League D
Lakeland
John jay
Yorktown
Mahopac
Fox Lane
Brewster
this allows for alot more competitive games…minimizes travel and allows for scheduling outside conference…...
The “new leagues” aren’t helping anyone.. How can a coach possibly keep the morale up, when they can’t even get a goal in? Yes, Arlington played pretty bad, but, maybe it’s starting to get to them? And, Lakeland would have been more productive playing their JV team probably.
The new leagues aren’t really designed around geography, even though they say they are. There are many teams who are actually travelling further than before. Take a look at the new field hockey leagues and you will see it too….
no doubt….no body wins when you have lopsided games…it hurts both teams…..good teams never get into a rythm….i do not understand why the AD’s agreed to this…...I can guess that they do not understand the skills gap between the best teams and the start-ups etc…in girls lacrosse
Chad Schindler must be doing a great job with those girls from Ossining. LaxPower has them ranked 10th in the section. They have come a long way in a short period of time. Great job coach.
Actually I think an easier solution would be to move Arlington and Wappingers into Section 9 instead of Section 1. There they would be playing with teams more at their level and probably closer. Teams like Kingston, Minisink Red Hook, and Newburgh.
We will see come sectional time how this all plays out
– Middle of road teams will get great seeds
– Upsets all over the place by seedings
– Top 2 teams will not play (good chance)during the sectional championship
Coaches had it right before this all happened, there is no good way to seed the teams with the geographic scheduling.
RocklandGirlsGuy, I think Schindler quit before last season? Not sure who Ossining’s coach is though.
Danny Ricci is coach-get out of the hole
