s1wss,
They are 100% rankings, projected rankings. Coaches are expected to be able to estimate how they will be the next year based on past performance, coaches, returning players… They do this so that they can create the most competitive schedule possible.
This is the preseason ranking. You will notice that some coaches who enter their team at a specific spot have less of an ego and how others push harder and harder to move up without the concrete evidence to back them up.
here’s the thing about the leaque alignments that no one is talking about. All the NYS C teams that are in the power leaque automatically get higher seeds when it comes to play off time. So, Rye, Byram. B-ville, and Put Valley already have claimed the top 4 seeds and at least one home game. No knock on these teams, they all are clearly very good, but doesn’t that bother any one else? And, if I have the facts wrong, please correct me
BigBadBear
It is true that the C teams in the power league will automatically get the top 4 seeds. It may seem unfair but theres no other way to determine the seeds. If you base it on records than a team would be punished for playing all the best teams in the section and not getting the same amount of wins as a team that plays weaker competition.
kenny:
I get that, and I don’t disagree, I just don’t like the “automatic” part…a team could go winless, losing to the 5,6,7 seeds, and still get a better seed…
Its not like the writers or some league officials or even inside lacrosse made rankings, thats what my point was, its the coaches last year ranking themselves on what they have coming back, its not meant to be perfect, its an honor system, they do the same thing for football, although its all out the door for now as next year is all geographical.
i cant wait for that, north teams like Mahopac, Brewster, Arlington, wappingers, two teams killing the others maybe throw Put Valley and North Salem in there
that central league with Yorktown, L/P, John Jay, Somers, HG, and Fox Lane
wouldnt mind the River league Hen Hud, Peekskill, Croton, Ossining, Sleepy Hollow, Peekskill,
small central league, Briarcliff, P’ville, Irvington, Hastings, Ardsley,
the rich league, Harrison, Bronxville, Rye, Scarsdale, Byram Hills, Mamroneck
give rockland their own league Suffern, North, South, North Rock, Nyack, Tappan Zee let them stay on their side till playoffs
i like the matchups already
Combine small cetral and rich league for a Southern Westchester League to include New Ro, White Plains and Pelham as well.
combine north and central for a Northern Westchester League
combine the River League and Rockland for a Hudson League
Without combos, the leagues will be too small.
the leagues right now are 6 teams
They aren’t automatic BBB. You need to pick up some literature or ask somebody 1,000 questions. Every year you’re with the same stuff…
Other teams can be seeded higher but they’d have to do things like win head to head and beat a few teams that beat the A team. They’d have to have a great case to take their spot away. It’s up for debate at the seeding meeting and there are criteria for it.
s1wss, there wouldn’t be 9 leagues. Why would they replicate the system that they’re leaving??? Whatever makes the most sense economically would happen. I’d guess that it would be Norhtern Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess in one league, Rockland in another and the rest of Westchester in another. The furthest drive would be LLP or Town to Arlington.
cards:
note I used “automatic” in quotes, and if there is printed material on this, happy to get educated. What are the criteria for this?
just one question for you: when was the last time a non-power team got seeded ahead of a power team? Haven’t followed this long enough, but I don’t think it has happened in the last 5 years
Ryan Tirelli i agree is one of the up and coming players in Section one today, his skills and overall character are both tremendous. Look out for Tirelli teams most likely will be looking to double team him to shut down the dynamic little man
BBB,
There is a seeding for a reason. The non power league teams aren’t as good as the power league teams. Are you asking when the last time a team was a huge surprise and beat a power league team and then beat teams that beat that other power league team and was seeded higher?
Probably never. A few years ago Bronxville (B) beat Pleasantville (A) and had a few other good games but wasn’t enough to unseed Pvlle in the playoffs.
You coaches can get you the info.
cards:
ok fine..i think there will be limited opportunities this year for both of those conditions to be met, given the shortened season…I do think when P’ville plays PV (i think in the third or fourth game) at PV, will be interesting..if they beat PV at PV, and the records are close, I think they have an argument..(and who said a b’cliff guy couldn’t stick up for p’ville?)
Big Bad Bear,
were you listening at all to what he said??? they have to show that they are better, not pretty close. the record doesn’t matter, their record indicates dick if they are playing a much easier schedule. they have to play and beat teams the beat PV in order to surpass them.
you’re a train wreck. there is no argument there unless they beat teams that beat pv and played a couple of out of area teams that were legit.
go watch tennis and blog with them
empire (or cards?)
only point is that it would be very hard for p’ville to meet the conditions you laid out, given the shortened schedule..and, I can’t have an argument?
bear good luck at Put Val scrimmage

thanks dude, actually I do believe it’s in b’cliff, with rye coming too…
