Folks, it’s becoming an epidemic.
And if you’re a lacrosse player or fan, it’s a good thing.
Yet another area college will be adding men’s and women’s lax.
Bard College, a well-regarded liberal arts school located near Red Hook that overlooks the Hudson River, is the latest newbie.
I received an e-mail today from John McKechnie, who will coach the men’s team and who is also serving as the interim women’s coach. He told me that next spring, it will compete at the club level before joining the Skyline Conference in 2010.
McKechnie is a Peekskill High graduate who attended the school when it didn’t have lacrosse. He played basketball for the Red Devils under the legendary John Moro. He then attended Amherst College where he became involved in lacrosse. He later went on to coach there in the middle 1980s and was all-New England coach of the year in 1987. He also coached at the College of Wooster in Ohio.
