Just got word that the Hudson Valley Chapter of US Lacrosse has announced its 2008 Hall of Fame inductees.
Brian Carcaterra, Joe Ceglia and Rob Doerrm all of whom are former Yorktown standouts, are the honorees along with former John Jay star Jen Greene and longtime Section 1 official Chuck Piebes.

After writing extensively about local high school and college athletics for The Journal News and LoHud.com, he spent a decade on the Knicks beat. He graduated from Slippery Rock University after spending two years at Kennedy Catholic in Somers and now lives in Brewster.

Joe, I expect better from you. All five inductees are deserving of equal acclamation. To highlight the Yorktown grads only is poor reporting and diminishes the contributions of a great and dedicated lacrosse official and the first female athlete to be elected.
Joe, I think our boy Stephen is just a little bit jealous that 3 of the 5 are from Ytown…Dont hate the Champs baby!!!!
Joe, on my screen it is necessary to click to another screen to see Chuck and Jen. If that is unique to me, I apologise. I have no problem celebrating the Yorktown players. They are each exceptional representatives of Hudson Valley Lacrosse and I admire their accomplishments. Regardless, it seems to me also that the first female player to be selected in the fifteen years of the Hall of Fame might be as newsworthy as 3 Yorktown players being selected.
Jen Green-Abbey is the first female player to be inducted into the HV Hall of Fame. Female coaches have gone before her – but Jen is the first female player! Way to go Jen!! Up until this past week, I thought it the was the HV Men’s Lacrosse Hall of Fame – nice to be proven wrong. I hope to see more female laxers considered and nominated in the years to come. I can think of a few who may make the list. You go girls!
by the way, it is nice to see Brian wearing his true colors in the above picure. ha. looking forward to the dinner. for those of you who have never been, it is a nice night.
swinglax – I agree. Just for fun, let’s toss out some names of some female players who should be considered. I’m sure Suffern most have some worthy candidates. Let’s hear some names.
congrates to brian and robbie! well deserved!
Rob Doerr has inspired kids through out the years and has made a huge impact on every kid he has coached…He is a great person and a great leader…the last century he has guided the likes of Steve Settembrino, Paul Satanvicca, Tom Interlicchio, John Ranagan, and Kevin Interlicchio to becoming special players…Well deserved Robby!!!
wow…he can’t be serious
I know some girls like Dowd, Chelsea Robinson, Foote, Carney should all be considered. The coach at Umass who I am forgetting as well is a Yorktown alum.
felix – Great list of names. The coach at UMass, who was a standout goalie at Maryland and an assistant on national championship teams at Northwestern, is Alexis Venechanos. Crysti Foote, who had a great career at Notre Dame, told me last week she’s joined Columbia’s program as an assistant.
I agree, Alexis Venechanos, a strong canidate. Foote, as well. I will have to dig into my database (old brain)and due to the fact taht the ladies, like the men, need to be out of college for a number of years – I think eight.
