Any updates on the NY game?
The paper mentions the possibility of HV meeting LI again. I thought each team only played another team once.
updates?
FINAL: Hudson Valley 12, NYC 5
Stats from NYC game:
JoJo Marasco had four goals and one assist and now has 11 goals in HV’s three games.
Rye’s Rob Santangelo added three goals. Tyler Perrelle of Mahopac had two goals. John Ranagan, J.P. Garry and John Brandofino also scored.
HV returns to action at 4 p.m. vs. Western, which just edged Central 6-5.
This western game is big. if they win this they are assured a medal
how do you figure?
If they win either one of their next two games, they are assured of PLAYING for at least the Bronze.
makes more sense…
FINAL:
Hudson Valley 10, Western 8
HV, which trailed 6-4 at the half, pulls out the win to improve to 3-1 at the Games.
John Jay’s Will Stewart had three goals and Mahopac’s Tyler Perrelle two goals and one assist. Joe Marasco and Rob Santangelo each had 1-1.
FYI – Hudson Valley last won a medal in 2000 (silver). The last time it won the gold was way back, back, back in 1992.
no joe they won bronze 2 years ago with bocklet, douglass, stockel
Joe didnt HV win a medal in 2006?
Yes. You guys are right. Long Island won the gold in ‘06, Western the silver and HV the bronze. Thanks for catching that.
In addition to the JJ guys Gordon mentioned, the team also had Matt Witko, Rob Bosco, Myles Monaghan, Andrew Collins and Jay Lucas. Quite an assemblage of offensive talent.
... and zach
With HV up 8-3 after 3 periods against a weaker AD team and the LI game coming up in just a few hours. Why didn’t the coach give his starters a rest and play others for the 4th period. The rest would have been beneficial to his starters.
8-3 the game is not over
Just returned from games.
HV rocks!!!. Great game VS LI!! (contoversy as to whether LI had illegal stick on final face-off win for them as ball seems to stick!!)
Great Western win.
Tough game at 7 vs central but HV should win as believe western better who beat central by 1 goal. If win then Gold medal vs LI tomorrow
Lots of guys contributing. Cant name names as each guy has come thru big at times.
Haggerty and Mikey each playing a half. Recently has been alternating Brandofino and Santangelo (2 quarters a piece).
With Stewart’s 3 goal breakout VS Western hopefully he’ll see alot more time rest of games.
GO HV!!!
Brewster parent – I was just referring to the offensive players on that ‘06 team. There were some good defenders too. Zach, Matt Marasco, T.J. Smith and Dan Dacosta come to mind.
GORDON…lets be real, at 8-3 that game was over.
HV has some awesome offensive power but just a particular comment on Perelle. He may be on the small side but he’s SO quick, agile, always in motion, scores with a variety of shots and even when he’s double teamed with D’s all over him he usually escapes, and draws pushing penalties from frustrated D. Great heart!
hope we get reports from the game-starting in 20 minutes!
Hudson Valley leads Central 3-2 after one quarter.
The game is being delayed by lightning. There is a severe thunderstorm warning in effect in the Binghamton area until 8 p.m.
Joe-just was called—HV is DOWN 3-2
This was always going to be a very tough game but HV can and WILL DEFINATELY win!!
Thanks, Joe, sorry, missed that.
Score???
There is now a massive downpour in Binghamton. The cell is moving west to east and the the skies do look clear on the radar from the west after the cell passes.
so the game is delayed???
still delayed at 8:20pm.
The delay, which started around 7:20 p.m., is still in effect. Officials plan on waiting till around 9:15 p.m. to determine if play can be resumed.
Game is on
Action did indeed resume.
It’s now 3-3 at halftime.
Central has pulled away to take an 8-4 lead after three quarters.
If Central wins, there technically will be a three-way tie between HV. Central and Western. But Central will play Long Island for the gold medal because the first tiebreaker is goals against and HV entered tonight’s game vs. Central having allowed five more goals against than Central.
It’s now 8-5 Central early in the fourth.
If Hudson Valley loses, it will play Western in the bronze-medal game 9 a.m. tomorrow.
Joe Marasco scores to make it 8-6 Central with 5:15 remaining in regulation.
Joe – ?????
FINAL — Central 8, Hudson Valley 7
HV’s final goal — by Marasco — comes with four seconds remaining.
I don’t know if goal difference is the tie breaker, but Central is +16, HV +14, Western +13. Central and HV went into the last game tied at +15. Central 43-27 (scored-allowed) HV 47-33, western 50-37.
sorry, didn’t read the earlier posts.
thanks dave
I have been unable to find any stories on the Hudson Valley/Central game last Saturday at the Empire State Games. But I heard the turning point came when one of the Hudson Valley players swore at a ref and got a 2 minute non-releasable penalty. During this time, Central scored their third period boatload of goals that were the difference in the game. Does anyone have any color?
