Now that the high school season is over, the Sound Shore Summer Lacrosse League has started, and here are the stats from the 1st game of the season that was played at SUNY Purchase(what a nice field they have) and after a 20 minute rain delay. It was POURING insanely and we were right in the middle of it, as everyone was waiting inside their cars, but once it passed, we played some LAX and here is the info:

    Away- Eurotech (mostly Brewster players)

Home- Bayside Tigers (some Hen Hud, and some Suffern players)

    1st Haf
    Eurotech- 2
    Bayside Tigers- 2

    2nd Half
    Eurotech- 3
    Bayside Tigers- 1

    Goals-
Eurotech- Lee Alexander 2, Nick Alfonzeti 1, Mike Fowler 1, Ethan Meyer 1
Bayside Tigers- Kevin Scadiack 1, Paul Stack 1, Kevin Tines 1

    Assists-
    Eurotech- Matt Jankowski 1
    Bayside Tigers- Scott Weiner 1

    Saves-
    Eurotech- Connor Sweeney 7

    Kevin McEwing 8
    Bayside Tigers- Evan Meger 8

It should be a great season, I really think the expansion of the league to 3 divisions is beneficial. This will avoid many of the romps we saw in the B division last year, as well as provide a sort of gateway to the A league for teams not ready/not interested in competing with the best. It will be interesting to see C-TECH play against some tougher competition. I noticed several new teams in B, in the form of DiPietro Construction, Yin Yang Lacrosse, Mugz's Bar Eagles, "Sound Shore", and Mamaroneck Alumni. I'm suspecting a few of these teams are teams from last year under different names. Some teams missing off the top of my head last year are Dooley's and Eastchester. I heard of an Iona/Fordham Prep mix joining up for a team this summer but I don't see them listed. I guess after this week we'll know who's representing which team.

  5. LacrosseInsider

Joe – any chance of getting rosters?

  6. Joe Lombardi

Insider – Absolutely. We encourage teams to post their rosters here. We've done that in the past and it's worked well.

  7. Rui

I will post rosters as soon as i get them, but if you dont see them from me, that is because the teams arent giving them to us, but will try my best.

You will also see who is on the teams, based on the scoring.

  8. Zack

what team are the dooley bros on?

  9. Ragu

Is that Jon Meyers shown above the one from Greenwich who is going to princeton next year?

  10. lacrossegeek

Here is the info of tonights game @ Boulder Brook, it started after a 30 minute delay of pouring rain, seems like this is becoming a daily issue, but heres the info:

    Mugz Bar Eagles- 2
    ADE Lighting- 11

Goals: M- Mark Castellano 1, TJ Kavanaugh 1

ADE- Chris Souther 3, Jordan Bloom 3, Mike Piacente 2, Philip Falco 1, Sam Freihofner 1, Matt Tirsch 1

    Assists: M- Mark Messina 1

ADE- Zach Pollock 1, Sam Freihofner 1, Philip Falco 1

Saves: M- Paul Anderson 20 (and they were all legit, dude played awesome)

    ADE- Steve Felix- 10

After a 30 minute rain/lighting delay, game started and it was just sloppy all the way around due to the weather, but i can tell you that the goalie for Mugz made 20 legit saves, most of them probably came inside of 10-15 feet where the shooters were alone, good job keeper.

  24. Rui

    CASUAL OBSERVER,

The breakdown of the division that you put up looks about right, i dont have the updated ones, but looking at what you put up, looks good to me.

  25. casual obsever

    rui,

thats what i found off the website. any word on the other games?

  26. Rui

I dont have any word on any games, as i worked the game at Boulder Brook. Phone service there is very limited, if any at all, scores should be in the paper every morning, as the score keepers are instructed to call the newspaper and report all details about the game that they worked.

  27. Rui

  32. Joe Lombardi

woo – I suspect you are asking because the Tailgators play the ESG team on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at SUNY Purchase.
Here are a few guys who play for the Tailgators and the high school/colleges they attend:

Harrison Jones (John Jay/Franklin & Marshall)
    Cole Cherney (Horace Greeley/Aherst)
    Matt Witko (Horace Greeley/Tufts)
    Dave Klausner (Horace Greeley/Tufts)
    Chris Latino (John Jay/SUNY Binghamton)
Mike Santare (John Jay/Western New England)
    Kevin Gordon (Rye/Colgate)
    Scott Morell (Rye resident/Ohio State)
    Franke Holiber (Horace Greeley/Hamilton)
    Alex Prostano (Rye/Boston College)
    Billy LaPerch (John Jay/Ithaca)
    T.J. Smith (Rye/Ohio State)

  33. LONGPOLE

If there are any Soundshore teams in need of an extra long pole, even if its sometimes, please contact Matt Di Fabio(Pleasantville Lacrosse graduating senior/Salisbury)at Lawngreen3@aol.com.

  34. Slacrosse

    Ragu,

Yeah, that's Meyers of Greenwich in the picture. Recognize the Greenwich helmet.

  35. ytownlaxdad

I was at the game last night where the tailgators played the empire team. at first, it looked like it was going to be a tough game for the tailgators at first but much my suprise they held in there.

The empire team was almost two full teams, the first team went up early but then the tailgators really poored it on and crushed them. they seem really young from what I can see/ hear and what my son who was trying out told me. My son also said they were missing 5 or 6 recent John Jay graduates like Latino and Jones.

Who else have they played? Joe, do you have a full roster for them?

  36. Rui

NO LIMIT beat MID OCEAN ROADRUNNERS with the score of 9 – 4. Game was held at John Jay HS in Cross River. Here are the stats, i apologize for mispellings:

    MID OCEAN ROADRUNNERS-

Goals- Matt Virtue 1, Paul Manesis 1, Bart Witmur 1, Drew Tunney 1
    Assists- Ted Daiber 1
    Saves- Gordon Cohen 19

    NO LIMIT-

Goals- Alex Webber 2, Brian Carcaterra 2, Mike McCall 2, Mike Ammann 1, Rob Kavovit 1, Mike Bocklet 1
Assists- Kevin Stockel 1, Steve Ammann 1, Paul Carcaterra 1, Mike Bocklet 1, Max Mauro 1
    Saves- Peter Coluccini 12

2nd Game was supposed to be played between GINER REAL ESTATE vs. SPORTS BARN, but the lights at John Jay HS didnt come on, so the game will have to be rescheduled (alot of players weren't happy, as they had to drive 45 minutes to JJ)

  37. senior parent

Any more scores from last night?

  38. CJLAX1

I'd watch out for mid-ocean road runners, they have a lot of talent they just need to put it all together…they have some great middies that play for middlebury (witmer, virtue, ferrer, and NESCAC player of the year mike stone)...keep a heads up on them

  39. woo

    yep
