Boys lacrosse in the Lower Hudson Valley with Joe Lombardi

Let's try this again

June
11

By around 7:30 tonight we will know exactly how many Section 1 teams will be heading to Hofstra tomorrow for the state semifinals.

Really, I mean it this time.

Of course, we thought the same thing when we woke up yesterday. But then came 98 degrees of separation. All three games wiped out by — get this — heat.

Joe I saw the All Section names in the paper today and I 'm still wondering why the All League list is exactly the same as the All section List for any player in the A league. I was under the impression that All League was a separate honor recognizing good players who were just a notch below the All section kids. Thanks for clearing it up and doing a great job covering lacrosse in Section 1

  2. Joe Lombardi

Miller – If you make all-section, you are automatically all-league as well.

  3. Miller

Yes, but there should be kids who made all league but not all section. That is not the case for the A League players. There are kids in B and C who made just all league, why is it different in A? Thanks

Joe – I think he was talking about how in the A league there are no kids who are only all league…all the kids who got all league got all section too…why was that?

  5. Joe Lombardi

That is a departure from the past. Not sure. Maybe one of the coaches can help us out on that one.

Joe Lombardi Joe Lombardi did not become familiar with lacrosse until after graduating from both Irvington High School and the University of Dayton Ñ neither of which offered the sport. But it didn't take him long to take a liking to lacrosse since it combines elements of several of his favorite sports: basketball, hockey and football. In addition to serving as local sports editor of The Journal News and LoHud.com, he also writes the weekly "Catching up with...":http://lohud.com/catchingup feature that appears on Tuesdays. Joe can also be seen each Monday during the school year on RNN's "NewsCenter Now," providing a look at the week ahead in local sports, as well as on "Varsity Central Extra," which appears on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
