Yorktown alumni game set for Sunday

June
10

The annual Yorktown alumni game is coming back.

It will be played this Sunday at 3 p.m. at Charlie Murphy Field. (It is on a Sunday instead of Saturday this year because the high school state championships, of course, are on Saturday.)

Former ‘Huskers Mike McCall and Chris Watson have done a great job organizing this year’s event.

Here’s a look at who will be playing.

    Dont see "Cuse" in line-up??

Come on—He must have played at Town!!

  2. Syracuse

I did, but I wouldn't be brave enough to take the field against those guys. Nah, my college alumni game is plenty enough for me.

Come out early and donate a pint of blood in the Matt Kull Blood Drive, grab and burger and bottle of water, find your seat by 3:00PM, just in time for the alumni game to start!

Syracuse, I've learned so much from your insights here on the blog – your burgers on me!

  4. Syracuse

I went the first year and it was an overwhelming event. I haven't gone back since for various reasons, none of which had anything to do with the experience I had. It was first rate in every way.

People not affiliated with Yorktown should just go and witness the best players you'll ever see go at it pretty fiercely, for an incredible cause. It's a treat for any fan of the sport.

I didn't know Matt Kull, but I wish I had.

Syracuse will be providing live updates though.

Yeah, sure, if you don't mind me blabbering after 12 or so Stellas …

  8. hopkinslax

Oh I would love to play but i have a side business that I have to work that day. I will be there in the morning coaching 7-8th grade Lagrange. I promise next year I will play and come out of retirement.

About the author
Joe Lombardi Joe Lombardi did not become familiar with lacrosse until after graduating from both Irvington High School and the University of Dayton Ñ neither of which offered the sport. But it didn't take him long to take a liking to lacrosse since it combines elements of several of his favorite sports: basketball, hockey and football. In addition to serving as local sports editor of The Journal News and LoHud.com, he also writes the weekly "Catching up with...":http://lohud.com/catchingup feature that appears on Tuesdays. Joe can also be seen each Monday during the school year on RNN's "NewsCenter Now," providing a look at the week ahead in local sports, as well as on "Varsity Central Extra," which appears on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
