  2. greenandwhite

they should make a simmilar article about SATs or playoffs

multiple kids from yorktown are facing that decision this saturday

    btw
ranagan, bocklet, drew, jojo, dougherty, badaluco, gordon

just to name a few AA's

  3. STRONGISLAND

    AA's are picked tonight.

  4. Joe Lombardi

I'm waiting on a call after the meeting wraps up.
Needless to say, I'll post it as soon as it comes.
    Stay tuned.

  5. Lacrosse dude

no question prom. If you really play. There will be opportunity to play again but when is the next prom. As for letting down the team. You need to worry about your life first. A prom is one of the rights of passages for all teens

  6. laxxxx3rrrr

Lacrosse dude you also have to realize alot of these seniors have devoted 6 seasons (since 7th grade) to the program and who knows how many camps/summer games/rec leagues that these kids play in. So even though prom happens once, a lot of time is devoted to the program.

  7. Laxolution

A lot of the kids playing deep into playoffs want to play at the next level. For them conditioning and skill development is a year round pursuit. Playoffs are what they work hard for. I am confident in saying that it would be an easy and very quick decision for any player at Yorktown or John Jay. Playoffs or prom? Come on. They'll have fond memories of sectional championships and achievements in the state tournament with the team-mates they have been playing with for countless years.

  8. laxin

Lax Dude, you are nuts, I don't know anyone who would pick prom over a playoff game. Last years Town team missed prom for state semis and only one player (wasn't going to get on the field anyway) went to prom. This is possible your last game in your high school uniform, you dont miss that for a silly dance.

  9. Levine

You are all a bunch of frustrated athletes… Probably not even athletes. You're all wrong. I agree with Lacrosse Dude… Prom over playoffs… 6 years or more… in the end you only remember the game as a game, but the prom you remember forever as The Prom…. You guys go back to your fat lazy boy chairs and watch and wish… real players make intelligent decisions

  10. Syracuse

I cannot believe you guys are even debating this, tongue-in-cheek or otherwise.

  11. Vin D'Andraia

I remember when Mike McBooch chose the prom over the playoffs in '92 and we gave him the old code red.

  12. laxin

Levine did you ever play high school sports? And if you did did you make the playoffs?

  13. Syracuse

OMG … Old code red … That is awesome

  14. 1994 Black & Gold

    Vin D—
Didn't McBooch have to engage in a heabutting contest w/ Lodi ? Rough punishment.

Or was he forced to steal a stick from a un-named oppenent during some Cup Game ? lol McBooch was always around for sure.

  15. Brutus

NO you guys have it all wrong:

McBooch was the one that told TurnBull to call a stick -Check in 91. It was Vinny Bagadonuts who stole the stick then drank out of the cup, while head butting Lodi. How can you forget. And as for Levine:
Prom over Any athletic contest, brother hows that bloating evry 25 days doing!

  16. Brutus

    Levine:

Prom before a championship, Brotha hows that bloating every 25 days doing???
It was Vinny bagadonuts who stole the stick drank out of the cup Then head-butted Lodi,
Mc Booch was the one who told Turnbull to call a stick -Check in 91.

  17. Syracuse

I think Ric B is the only person who could pull off going to prom and playing a state tournament game on the same night, maybe even at the same time

  18. Rick McCutchin

I played HS at West Genny in the late 70's, then prep at North Country and College in Cortlandt, As an adult, I can easily see what Levine means. I played in more than a few big games and have great memories, but I also remember my prom. At this point, I can't remember who hit who or when I scored, but I remember the feeling of victory. To be real, I can't remember if one great win was better than another, but I can remember a lot about the prom and a great night with my friends and my date. Looking back, if I had to choose, I probably would ask my father for advice, who would tell me to go to the prom. Now I would advise my kids the same. You see, playing a sport is just playing, it's fun, it is a way of thinking and it's great, but one time memories go a step further. Brutus, you are a fool and should probably keep watching and dreaming of your big day. Maybe you couldn't play or worse, couldn't get a date for your prom. Hopefully the HS kids who read this have mind enough to make a real decision that they can live with for the rest of their lives. Few of the HS kids can take Lax any further, so I know they would want to play that big game, but in perspective, the big game is a smaller memory then the first and only prom night.

  19. Vin D'Andraia

I sold that stick! Lodi has a big forehead for anyone who deoesn't know! Rick, I strongly disagree with you. What made the prom so special? To say a game is just a game and the prom is such a special night is your opinion. I can easily argue that the sectional final is an important game in your life that you worked hard to get to and the prom is just another dance. You'll have plenty of mixers in college. Not saying one is right or worng, but can easily be argued. I was fortunate that I didn't have to choose due to a conflict, but I would have chose the game if I had the choice. My prom date and I wore the same tuxedo and it was very embarrassing.

  20. L/P 94'

Ric B could MC the prom while throwing take-away checks !

  21. not nicky b dad

DID YOU ORDER A CODE RED?!!!

DID YOU ORDER A CODE RED?!!!

Rumor has it you couldn't get a date Vin!

    class of1920

  22. Vin D'Andraia

    Zing!

  23. LoveTownLax

Vin – I say PLAY THE GAME and dance after you've won!

  24. G-lax

chance to spank LI? dance later kid

    1

    chance to spank

chance to spank LI? dance later kid!

  25. Rick McCutchin

Vin- Any decision is OK, as long as it is well thought out…. but a decision is far from the stupidity of those who could only wish to put themselves in this spot. Of course I feel that a HS prom is not a college mixer, but I also feel that in most cases you can play the game and show up at the prom late, although I guess that means really late if you come back to Westchester from Syracuse or further west. I just wanted to express my opinion to Brutus and the idiots who bashed Levine for having an opinion. As far as what made the prom special is simple.. easy night to talk her into it!! Never managed after a game, she felt that it was my high not hers. I'll take that always over anything else!!!

  26. Vin D'Andraia

Too funny Rick. I was wondering if that was what you were hinting at when you said "special night".

  27. Vin D'Andria2

Dont call Brutus an idiot he only has one eye.

  28. Vin D'Andraia

Vin D'Andria2…classic!!!! Anyone who knows Brutus knows that. But whoever you are, if you use my name, add that 'a' after the r and before the i.

  29. do it all

The schools should make sure that the prom is scheduled after the NYS play-off's. I know both the boys and girls have had this problem of state play vs. prom. Give me a break ~ with the hundreds of thousands of $$$$'s the admin is getting paid – can't they look at the damn calendar and pick a date after June 15th? dance after the game!

  30. laxwebster

You guys are really disgusting! The real problem is that they don't consider the game dates of the LAX boys when they plan the prom. I agree, do it all.

  31. G-lax

ytown lax plays this late since nixon in office….is anybody out there?

  32. McLuvin

Playoffs over prom…do they have a prom thread to talk on?
when you are hanging out do you talk about prom or the game….prom is so overrated..do you get a plaque for prom?...there is plenty of times to hang with some girl, after you win the playoff game believe me the girls will be there….when you get older do you really remember prom? Start thinking with the correct lax stick!
    And yea I am McLuvin!

  33. Lacrosse dude

ok mcluvin. I have now found the guy that all of those movie and tv characters are based on. You know the guy that sits around and says "remember what I did in that game" let's think about it. We all grow up and we don't sit around talking about the prom or any game we played in. We move on and watch sports and talk about that

  34. long pole

Went to two proms, one with prom queen – yeah you could say I was a stud – and played in playoffs 3 years, including state finals. No question, playoffs. Prom overrated, never discussed again. Would be embarressed to have to tell my lax playing sons (and tough guys like Vinny D'Andraia) that I missed any playoffs for prom.

  35. Vin D'Andraia

i'm only tough with parents of players who question my time out calling ability!

  36. Funny Story

I was late for two proms because of Empire Tryouts. The first time, the parents of the girl understood and we not that upset with me. The second time, the parents of this girl actually called one of my friend's cell phones (this was a time when EVERYONE did not have a cell phone), who just happened to be waiting to play the next scrimmage and was relaying me messages as the game went along. Eventually, when my game was over, I got on the phone with her and I cannot repeat on this blog all the names I was called. Needless to say, I am hated to this day as the one who ruined her daughters prom. Much different situation than the playoffs and neither one was my prom, so it made for an easy decision.
