third party -
Sorry about the delay in w/b. On busy nites like this I don't always get to read all the comments as they come in. But as I just posted on another thread in response to this:

Call it a hunch, but I like the streaking Panthers, 8-7.

First Irvington now Kennedy. No one from these teams are going to be playing lacrosse at the D1 level or D3 for that matter. People do not realize the difference between high school and college lacrosse, especially when your used to having "outstanding" games against teams like Eastchester. Talk up your teams all you want but lets be realistic no one from these caliber teams are D1 talent.

People don't like to be told when starters are taken out of games IF the final score was closer than expected. It's like, "well, we didn't beat you 20-1 because our fifth string goalie got to play." It's bush, but we're all guilty of doing it from time to time.

Irvington may not be sending anyone D1 this year, but they are displaying an incredible progression for a team that is only in its second varsity year and is playing mostly juniors and sophomores.

Last year they were last in their league. This year, after an uneven start, they have swept their last six games and are currently 4-1 in league play and are easily looking at a 5-1 finish. Their only league defeat was against Nanuet, who are clearly dominating C-II.

The Bulldogs may not be looking to win sectionals, but I imagine the athletes, the parents, and fans of lacrosse in general are pleased with the incremental steps taken each year since Irvington interscholastic lacrosse began as a modified only program four years ago.

The fledgling Bulldogs and their fans have certainly earned their right to participate in the discussion of section 1 lacrosse on this forum.

I follow a lot of the sport blogs. This one may be one of the most exclusionary blogs as far as having conversations about teams other than Rye, JJ, Yorktown and a few other "elites". Their is often more talk about college and Long Island teams than about a good majority of section 1 lax teams...

....... I wasn't aware that this blog was really only for people to talk about Yorktown, JJ, Rye, Brewster, and the other power houses. Last I checked it say "Boys lacrosse in the Lower Hudson Valley with Joe Lombardi" at the top. Irvington is in the Lower Hudon Valley so why don't relax and let the kid talk about his team. Yes, he may be a little misguided about his team's D1 prospects and sectional chances but you don't need to be rude. He's probably a 14 year old kid with nothing else to do and if you want to respectfully disagree with him thats fine, but please try to be considerate.

Irvington beat Hastings handily. I believe the final score was 13-5. Hastings only had 2 goals when Irvington took their starters out in the 4th. Again Irvingtons defense played a great game, and Dan Glantz played like a mad man in cage. Irvington let up the 1st 2 goals early in the game, then went on a 13-0 run.

Harrison is coming off the big win over White Plains, but Ardsley has won four of its last five. Still, I like the Huskies to prevail 8-6.

Robert -
Though both teams are much-improved, I'd be surprised if Edgemont doesn't beat Roosevelt relatively comfortably.

Sec 1 Lax -
Hen Hud/LP has developed into a nice rivalry. Both teams have some well-equipped short sticks and strong goaltending. The Rebels have been more consistent though this season, nearly knocked off Yorktown and played JJ pretty tough for the second year in a row.
L/P 11, Hen Hud 7

Freedom Writer -
Look for North Salem to bounce back from its loss to Ardsley by handling Wappingers pretty.
NS 10, Wappingers 5

what do you think about to days game between Edgemont and Roosevelt? Edgemont is 11-2 while Roosevelt is 7-8. Both teams stepped up a whole lot so what do you think about it?

Looking forward to this prediction. I have Yorktown winning 8-7, with the last goal to bring Yorktown to the lead being scored with less that 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
