Here’s a look at Sunday’s D-I games. Please post info/thoughts on any other games, including D-II and D-III, etc.:

Former John Jay star Chris Daniello, the 2006 Journal News Westchester/Putnam boys lacrosse player of the year, had an assist and a ground ball in Syracuse’s 20-3 opening-round NCAA tournament rout of Canisius. (Photo courtesy Syracuse University athletics)
Second-seeded Virginia rallied for a 10-9 win over upset-minded visiting University of Maryland-Baltimore County in the opening round of the NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse tournament yesterday in Charlottesville, Va.
The Cavaliers (13-3) will face Maryland in the quarterfinals pn Saturday at Navy in Annapolis, Md.
UMBC had led 5-2 early in the game and 9-8 with time winding down. Virginia’s Garrett Billings scored to snap a 9-9 tie with 6:50 left.
Steve Settembrino, an all-American for Yorktown in 2004, is a junior defenseman for UMBC (12-4), which entered the game with a school-record 11 game win streak.
In other first-round games:
Notre Dame 8, Colgate 7, OT: At Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., Peter Christman scored with 1:28 left in overtime for the sixth-seeded Fighting Irish (14-2). Rob Bosco, a two-time all-America midfielder for Hen Hud, had an assist and a ground ball for Colgate (11-6), which was making its first NCAA tournament appearance. Katonah’s Charles Gumz is also a freshman midfielder for the Raiders. Notre Dame will play Syracuse in the quarterfinals on Sunday in Ithaca.
Johns Hopkins 10, Hofstra 4: At Hopkins in Baltimore, John Jay graduate Matt Bocklet had six ground balls for the defending national champion and fifth-seeded Blue Jays (9-5), who will play at Navy on Saturday in the quarterfinals. Yorktown’s Tom Interlicchio scored a goal for Hofstra (10-6).
Syracuse 20, Canisius 3 : At the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, Cross River’s Chris Daniello, a sophomore midfielder, had one assist and one ground ball for the Orange (13-2). Two other John Jay graduates play for the Orange: junior defensive midfielder John Carrozza and junior goaltender Pete Coluccini.

Damn. I so wanted Colgate in the next round just to slap JGold around some :). I guess beating Notre Dame will have to do. Expect a ton of Orange at "neutral" Ithaca.
Canisius in the first round. Second-round game vs. ND in nearby Ithaca.
Sounds like the NCAA is happy to have SU back in the tournament.
There's a huge sigh of relief all throughout Syracuse. The Orange might just have a chance at a final four berth now that Colgate isn't in the way.
Ohio State looked awesome crushing cornell. They that good ! Hope other people got chance to see OSU's goalie run the field and score a goal11
