Nanuet at Roosevelt 4:30 (rescheduled from 4/28)

  2. section one

Do Rye PutValley, Byram and Pville automatically get 1-4 seeds in class C joe?

  3. section one

Do Rye, PutValley, Byram and Pville automatically get 1-4 seeds in class C Joe?

  4. Joe Lombardi

Higher seeds are awarded to teams in the so-called power league regardless of record. The "power league" is separate from Division A. This link lists those nine teams.

  5. Joe Lombardi

Our friends at Inside Lacrosse have just released their latest national rankings.

As expected, John Jay is out, and Niskayuna is in.

    Here's the link.

  6. HenhudFAN

What you think of the Henhud-south game. I cant see henhud not taking control of this game and owning south. Any decent guys on south.

  7. Joe Lombardi

White Plains has just beaten North Salem 10-6 in their league showdown.
Michael Cambareri had 4-2 and Ryan McGee 1-4 for WP.

  8. Joe Lombardi

Hen Hud Fan – I do see Hen Hud beating South. The Sailors are without question the best under .500 team around — as evidenced by their triple OT loss to Rye.
    Hen Hud 9, South 4

  9. section one

So division A dont get priority seeding, so it is possible that for instance Briarcliff can get a higher seed than Pleasantville if they win?

  10. Sections

Im going to check out the hendhud game real good players to look out for in the game

  11. Sections

    any*

  12. Yes

    Hey Joe,

Can we get the latest state rankings?

    Thanks

  13. section 1

North Salem lost to a good white plains team… who despite all the rave about their D, deserve credit for their attack which scraps well and comes up with goals out of nothing. But don't write off North Salem just yet, they could still close out their season without a further loss and finish 14-4, impressive for a second year varsity program.

  14. HL

    Nyack 12 – Pelham 11

Great 4th Q at Pelham. Nyack led by 2 to 4 goals throughout but Pelham stormed back from a 9-5 deficit in the 4th to tie it at 9. Nyack scored two to go up 11-9 but Pelham answered with two if their own to send it into OT. Nyack scored a few minutes into OT to win it 12-11.

  15. Joe Lombardi

Yes, Yes – The latest state rankings are hot off the presses.
    Here you go.
Both Briarcliff and Byram Hills have broke into the rankings in Class C.

  16. hopkinslax

    arlington score?

  17. Sections

Joe you know any players to watch out for in the henhud game.

  18. Section 1

    Arlington lost like 10-7

  19. Joe Lombardi

    Hackley 7, Dalton 2
    Briarcliff 17, New Rochelle 2
    Nanuet 9, Roosevelt 0
    Pearl River 9, Haldane 8

  20. sect 1

Those class C state rankings are a joke….briarcliff three spots above byram? I'm by no means a byram supporter but give credit where credits due. Byrams beaten numerous quality teams this season while briarcliff does only have one loss, there difficulty of schedule does not hold a candle to byram.

These state rankings mean close to nothing as i'm positive byram would defeat briarcliff if they were to meet(sectional showdown)

  21. laxer11

how was the north salem white plains game? any good players?

  22. section one

positive? I dont think you should be so positive, the only quality wins are pleasantville and put valley, both teams that are good but have been suspect during the season. I do agree that Briarcliff hasn't really beaten anyone that they shouldnt have. We will see after the end of this week when they travel to Bronxville and Pleasantville (who has all there team back). Until then I would Bcliff and Bhills on equal levels

  23. Joe Lombardi

For Hen Hud/South game, players to watch include Collin Parkhurst, Andrew Nieminski and Jake Green on offense for Hen Hud as well as goalie Matt Colombini.

For South, James Devine, Tom Riley and John Buechli on offense as well as goalie Luke Haggerty.

  24. Joe Lombardi

For photos from today's White Plains-North showdown, click here.

  25. sect 1

    section one-

the fact that bcliff has not seen nearly the same level of comp as byram will hurt them greatly if they were to meet byram, who has seen the elite teams in the section. I think briarcliff is on the brink of being a very great program but there just not their yet.

Their game against pleasantville should show alot about them and their ability to play with teams a notch above them. For pville, no matter their shortcomings this season, are still a very talented team.

  26. REAL DEAL RYE

    Ardsley 11, Arlington 9

  27. Section one

For all the Briarcliff fans,I was wondering if you guys are worried about being senior heavy because look what happend to Ardsley who was senior heavy and is struggling this year.

  28. Joe Lombardi

Correction on earlier final – White Plains won 11-6 over North Salem

  29. 'Cliff

I agree with that sect 1, thats a fair point, However, Bcliff did scrimmage the likes of Ytown, Mahopac, Lakeland, Greeley, Rye, Hen Hud, Somers and has an upcoming game against Chatham the currently ranked #17 team in the country.

    Section One-

Thats a definite concern, and this team is exactly like last years Ardsley team. Very senior heavy, certainly next year will be a rebuilding year. There is now a JV, Freshman, Modified and youth lacrosse in Briarcliff so it will look to have its up and down years like all programs.

  30. Lax

Briarcliff deserves to be above byrum if you look at byrums schedule there games that are not in league or crossover is pathetic all c league teams except white plains briarcliff how ever played a very hard non league/crossover schedule with lakeland, pleasantville, Chatham #17 in the country ranked higher than Jay byrums best opponent all there other games are tournaments or league/ crossover games briarcliff deserves the credit they are getting

  31. fan

BYRAM is a better team then BCLIFF…it's not even a question…Briarcliff hasn't played anyone…Bcliff shouldn't be in the top 15 there schedule is a complete joke

  32. Scout42

haha I'm sorry, but I just came across those state rankings, and how is Briarcliff above Byram? Congrats to the Bears for having a good season thus far and only losing once…but they only lost once because they only played one SOLID team. Byram has beated Pville, Scarsdale, Put Valley – the same Put Valley team that beat North Rockland a couple of games ago. So yea, Bcliff has a better winning percentage but that does not even come close to equating to a ranking better than Byram's…not to mention, if the sectional seeds were decided right now Bcliff wouldn't be in the top 4 – Byram would be 2nd for sure.

  33. Lax

    Scout42
thats because briarcliff isnt in the power league when they defiantly could be byrum is not a much better team i think briarcliff could def take them down in sectionals ive seen them both play byrum is not that good and briarcliff does not have a joke of a schedule they just havnt played the tough games yet pville and chatham still to come they will be big games to watch

  34. homta

bcliff should at least add rye to the schedule as they'll probably have to face them at some point in the playoffs

  35. irvmanhater

    no

  36. sect 1

    LAX-

Byram is not in the power league….they are in the A division which theoretically gives them no edge in seedings over bcliff ,who is in the B division

  37. Freedom Writer

irvington? they lost to Eastchester by 6, what are you guys talking about?

  38. IrvMan

    Freedom Writer,
Yes they did lose, but their starting goalie was still out with a wrist injury, so an unexperienced freshmen had to fill the spot. Also, one of their staring defensemen was benched for disciplinary issues, and the head coach was unable to attend the game.

  39. 12rock

you forgot and the sun was in the freshmans eyes

  40. Irvvy

how will they be in the section championship then? they will lose in the 2ns round

  41. section 1

Irvvy are you suggesting that Irvington will make sectionals? and also that they will win their first round game?

  42. Agrad15

Joe, i am curious as to what you think of ardsley as a program. After doing so well for a starting program(making it to the semi-finals for class C last year and quarter-finals the year before that) and then losing almost every single one of their starters. How do you feel about their play this year and in future years?

  43. Joe Lombardi

Agrad15 – The Panthers, who are in their third year as a varsity program, lost a good group of seniors from last year's team that upset Pleasantville in the Class C quarters.
The long-term outlook for the program is very good though. The numbers are strong in the youth level and in Andrew Nappi, there is a coach in place who knows his lacrosse and who also teaches social studies at Ardsley Middle School, which is a big plus.

  44. ....

Joe is it possible for briarcliff to get the 2 seed since rye is the only power league team or do the teams in the A league get preference in seedings

  45. IrvMan

    Section1,
do you hontesy think Irvington will not make sectionals? and depending on the draw, they stand a decent chance of advancing beyond the 1st round

  46. IrvMan 2

    good one irvman

  47. ballin

back to briarcliff, in their one game against a good team, they got wrecked by lakeland. the final score was 11-5, but after the third quarter it was 8-1, this was before thye put up the backup goalie and rest of second team. At least Byram competes with their tough competition

  48. section 1

Irvman- yes i don't think they will, their schedule is not strong at all. If they are to be in class C who would the be in sectionals over? Edgemont? Nanuet? North Salem? Ardsley? Pelham? Eastchester? Haldane? Hastings? (please check their schedules, their records and some of them, check their scores against your team) Top 5 will go to Pleasantville Briarcliffe Put Valley Byram and Rye most likely cause of schedule strength… then theres 8 spots left. And even if they did make it into sectionals… who on that list would they beat?

  49. IrvMan

    section 1,
where are you from? because obviously you arent a casual observer and i assume you play for someone. Of the people you listed Irvington will make it over Eastchester(yes i know they lost to them, but Irvington is a better team than them flat out) and they will make it in over Hastings, once Irvington beats them 2 more times (once in league play, once in the Ardsley Tournament). I dont know the records of North Salem, Pelham or Haldane. But i also think that wins are possible against Ardsley, Nanuet, and Edgemont if the Bulldogs offense comes to play.

  50. Agrad15

sorry irvman but im going to have to agree with section1 on this. out of all the teams you have named irvington has one of the weakest schedules and is not capitolizing on it. even if a team such as ardsley has a worse record they are more likely to get a spot over teams such as irvington, hastings, edgemont and north salem because they play a much harder schedule. I am not saying that irvington will not make it but the probability of winning the first round and then second is somewhat unrealistic

  51. Section one

I'm a different poster than the other section 1 but agree. If you want to know I am a parent of a player on Ossining so I have no interest in Class C but this Irvington stuff has to stop. Irvington, as Agrad15 pointed out plays a very easy schedule. Ardsley is in divison B, a higher level than division C which Irvington and the other two teams you said they could beat are in. Now, Nanuet destroyed C-north who you lost to (your goalie must have been injured again) and already beat Irvington. That leaves only Edgemont who have already beat Irvington and beat Sleepy by more than Irvington did.

  52. Irvington is the worst

There is no way Irvington would ever beat Edgemont. Also there is no way Irvington is sending ANYONE D-1.
