You gotta lay off Pearl River lax. Their first year with a team. So pretty much just a bunch of football-soccer-basketball-hockey players picking up lax for the first time. You have to start somewhere. Of course they will struggle. It’s a pretty small school too. That said… give it a couple of years and they’ll make it respectable.
Does Chaminade have a baseball program? Or spring Tennis, Track, or Soccer? JJ has all those I believe, its a matter of what programs are also drawing athletes at your schools, will determine the size of your teams.

No disrespect intended toward Pearl River. You could see that they were playing hard….just short on stick skills, which takes years to develop…..Mamaroneck is now playing the price for relying so heavily on just one player…maybe they should take notes from some of the schools who have tremendous offensive depth and spread the scoring depth to a number of players, instead of highlighting one kid in the hopes of having the #1 point maker on the stat sheet.
Jay Fans – glad you were at Chaminade to get my facts straight!....was there just for the fun, with no intentions of reporting on the game to anyone, so didn’t take notes!
north rockland fans, maybe you should have watched the game a little closer because it was the north rockland players that started with the cheap shots. when #16 said that they should not be “that team” , #1 replied “why not, the game is over anyway” .. now if you call that class than your in the wrong place because that is without a doubt the worst display of sportsmanship i have ever seen, i say you should keep your mouth shut if you are going to make comments on something you clearly did not see
The officials let the game get way out of hand. Kids will be kids, they just played hard.
nr fan-I agree with GreenWhite and brewster. I was at that game and dont remember any cheap or dirty play that wasnt initiated by north rockland. I remember that in the 2nd quarter, north rockland was already taking their frustration out on the brewster players by hitting them on the way to a timeout, thats very classy. But I will gladly entertain any situations where you feel that brewster was out of line, but if anything, almost all of the dirty play came from north rockland.
12rock-please give me an example of this dirty play that youve witnessed by brewster. this style of play of piling it on after the game is over is ridiculous. First of all, it is just playing hard. second of all, brewster has been up by almost 10 in most of their games and most of the time has taken it very easy in the second half.
I assume that “brewster” was on the field to hear the comments quoted above. I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say, though. #16 said, “they shouldn’t be ‘that team.’” What does that mean? And as far as #1 saying that the game was over anyway – it was, basically after the first 5 minutes. You and I were both there, right? To anyone there it was clear that Brewster was in control and going to win. As NR fans, we just hoped our kids would keep their heads up and play hard. What’s your point? I’m not disullusioned into thinking that my team could have beat yours on Saturday. I’m a lacrosse fan from NR – definitely know how to lose, we’ve done our share of that. MY POINT WAS that there is a way to win, as well. I’m primarily pointing my finger at your sideline, not the kids. HS athletes (and coaches) will be such. Their frustration in a game will occasionally bring out the worst in them – they’re kids, remember? Keeping an eye on that is one of the responsibilities of the officials. Sportsmanship is knowing how to win as well as lose. It is my opinion, based on my experience, and I have been to MANY games – wins and losses – that you people in Brewster have a lot to learn about “how to win.” When I listened to Joe’s podcast and discovered that you were 4-14 last year, I thought that maybe your lack of experience as winners might explain your attitude. However, that’s really no excuse. All I can say is that you might want to pay attention and take a lesson from the parents and fans at Yorktown or maybe Rye (they beat you, didn’t they?) They exemplify “good” winners. Then of course, feel free to ingore me completely. Other teams and their fans will come and go and they, most likely, will feel as I do. If you’re looking for respect as a program – look inward! A winning record isn’t everything.
By the way, there are several earlier comments “Ha, I knew North Rockland was a joke” “North Rockland is awful” “There goalie is terrible” Real good sportsmanship from “the winners!”
Most change in record since last year would have to go to mamaroneck. they have no depth but have some skilled players like Shane Ferguson and Alex Bodor. They dont have a defense and i know nothing of their goalie except that it says hes 6’11 300 pounds?
nr fan, what makes you think the earlier “joke” comments were from a Brewster fan? I was also at the game and your comments are way out of line.
North Rockland Fan
You hit the nail right on the head twice now.
half the kids on the NR team were saying let’s keep it classy and a good clean game and others were saying who cares let’s be the dirty team (in different words of course). You can’t take most of the trash talking you hear on the blog seriously becasue you never know who is saying it. Regaurdless of who started the cheap shots on the field, once people started to get out of hand both teams were jsut tryign to stand up for themselves and their team mates. As for the parents didn’t really hear much other than a few paretns complaining to refs. If there are any specific things that went on feel free to share otherwise we’ll jsut look at the complaining as a frustrated team that’s a little pissed it lost its first game.
i am pretty sure that both Brewster and NR had parents behaving badly, as well as parents showing class and good sportmanship…cause that’s the way it always is. It’s kind of silly to put down a group as a whole because of comments from a few. Didn’t your mother ever teach you that?
