Boys lacrosse in the Lower Hudson Valley with Joe Lombardi

It's podcast time once again

April
1

Earlier today, Jeff and I got together in the op-center (that’s operations center for short) in the heart of The Journal News’ newsroom at our home office in White Plains for our second podcast of the year.

Hope you like it.

Those of you folks who listened to the ones we did during football, hoops and hockey seasons will remember the music intros. Well this week, we have one for lax. Tell me what you think of it.

First, a quick disclaimer that I should have posted before our first podcast.

The average running time of our podcasts is about 10-15 minutes.

Last week, in our preview edition, we about doubled that. Even with that longer time, we still weren’t able to give as many names or talk about as many teams as we would have liked.

So please take advantage of the opportunity you have to bring up any teams or players you want by posting here and by calling in Thursday night on our inaugural spring edition of “Varsity Central Extra” from 6:30-7 p.m. on RNN. We have a segment each week for viewer calls. So give us a shout at 1-888-RNN-CHAT and talk about your team. (RNN is available on Channel 19 in Westchester and Rockland and Channel 20 in Putnam on cable and Channel 62 on DirecTV.)

Now, without further ado, here’s our featured presentation, this week’s podcast. Just click on the MP3 button below:

joe, do you know a list of each team's captains?

  2. Joe Lombardi

It's a light day for games. We have a couple results so far though:

John Jay 17, Putnam Valley 3: At Putnam Valley, Chris Bocklet had four goals and five assists and Harrison Jones had five goals in the season opener for the Indians, who have now won 40 straight games against Section 1 opponents. Dillon Chestnut scored two goals for the Tigers.

Stepinac 9, Clarkstown North 8: At Clarkstown North, Justin Caba had four goals and Mackenzie Gleason added three for the Crusaders. Nick Camadeco and Brian Clifford each had three goals for the Rams.

I wasn't there. Anyone who was, let us know.

And as always, you can check out box scores from the games reported to us on the boys lacrosse homepage on Varsity Central.

I know that Jay scored 9 of their 17 in the first quarter, but PV managed to get a goal in each of the first 3 quarters.

    Hi Joe
Schedule showed Brewster Fox lane on tap for yesterday but I don't find any results.

About the author
Joe Lombardi Joe Lombardi did not become familiar with lacrosse until after graduating from both Irvington High School and the University of Dayton Ñ neither of which offered the sport. But it didn't take him long to take a liking to lacrosse since it combines elements of several of his favorite sports: basketball, hockey and football. In addition to serving as local sports editor of The Journal News and LoHud.com, he also writes the weekly "Catching up with...":http://lohud.com/catchingup feature that appears on Tuesdays. Joe can also be seen each Monday during the school year on RNN's "NewsCenter Now," providing a look at the week ahead in local sports, as well as on "Varsity Central Extra," which appears on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.
