Want a clean game?

Today’s game between Stepinac and Fordham Prep was marked by an unusual situation: there was just one official. (Frank Becerra Jr./The Journal News)
Then maybe you should hope only one referee shows up. At today’s Stepinac-Fordham Prep game, there was a mixup about officiating assignments. No refs were at the 4 p.m. start.
Finally one showed up at 4:50. But he was the only one there. The teams had to decide whether to play the game with one official or postpone it. Fordham Prep wanted to play badly. Stepinac was a bit more hesitant as coach Brian Fee expressed concern over safety.
He consented and both teams were so careful to play a clean game to not put the ref in a difficult spot. So there were no late hits, very few cross checks, and almost no trash talk between teams.
Who knew…the way to actually get a cleaner game is to reduce the number of refs.

too bad it had to come to no official to have a clean game – - the refs should either start calling the helmet to helmet hits and cross checks that have become a regular part of the game or they should change the rules to allow them
so…what was the actual score?
12-4 Fordham.
We had posted the score in the first update on the game prior to this one actually, but yes, Goldie should have repeated it in his separate post later.
He does include it here, of course, along with some more interest info in his story on the game.
Hi ,
A correction. Two goals were scored by Justin Caba [not ODonnell]for Stepinac.
