College (I miss it)

By the way, for those of you who missed it, the greatest school in the world, my alma mater, Colgate, put up a tremendous effort against Rockland lacrosse writer Harold Gutmann’s awful school, Duke, losing 15-7, and winning me some, um, stuff, that I can use to get a few slices of pizza.
Let’s just say, I had a few goals in this matchup of good vs. evil.
Duke’s roster of fifth-year seniors just couldn’t dominate. Sorry Gut. At least you have the tourney to look forward to. (Belmont 71, Duke 68.)
This will be the one and only time I will talk about moral victories on this blog. There will be no congratulations to any eight-goal defeats in the upcoming season, sorry.
But since it’s Colgate (repeat after me: the greatest school in the world) I need to find some way to compliment them.
OK, in another college lax news, tremendous win for Siena tonight, beating No. 17 Loyola (Md.) 5-4. Mahopac’s Matt Girsh, a junior at Siena, had a goal.

Very impressive win indeed for Siena over Loyola, which was ranked 17th. MAAC schools have performed well in non-conference games this year. Providence only lost to North Carolina by two goals last week.
Interestingly enough, Siena coach Brian Brecht, a former Yorktown assistant, was an assistant at Loyola before taking over the Saints.
I can't hang with you guys when it comes to college alma maters and lax. At Dayton, a bunch of guys from Long Island started a club team but that was about it.
You can't hang with us in basketball either. Duke, well, is Duke. And Colgate was a game away from the Dance.
I don't want to hear about your RPI either. That's a school Colgate beats in hockey. Have fun against Cleveland State tonight.
Haha – Jeff you can't be serious. Dayton draws more fans in one home game than Colgate does the entire season. Not to mention the fact Dayton has been to the final four — in fact to the national championship game. The Flyers also rose to No. 14 in the national rankings this season after winning at Louisville and beating Pitt by 25 points — the worst loss in Jamie Dixon's tenure with the Panthers. Injuries to two key starters however took their toll, but they still have 21 wins heading into the NIT.
As for the RPI, I can understand why you don't want me to bring it up. Here is Dayton at No. 32.
I stopped looking for Colgate after I somehow made it through 150!
By the way gang, Jeff will be returning to lax talk later today. He talked to Rye coach Brian Dooley last night and will be posting a preview on the three-time defending Class C champion Garnets. But one last hoop note. Time is winding down to play our NCAA tournament game. You can win $10,000 with a perfect bracket.
