Senior attackman Kevin Stockel, above, scored the 100th goal of his career and junior attackman Chris Bocklet, below, scored a career-high seven goals to go along with two assists as John Jay defeated host Horace Greeley 16-7 today.
Also of note, John Jay extended its winning streak against Section 1 teams to 29 games.
Stockel now has 100 goals and 58 assists (158 points) for his career. Bocklet, whose previous career high for goals in a game was five (in a 21-2 win over Ossining last year). The third member of the Indians’ highly touted attack, Brian Douglass, had three goals and an assist today. Junior midfielder Kevin Drew continued his strong play with two goals and three assists for John Jay (4-1), giving him five goals and four assists in the last two games.
Greeley (2-1) was led by senior midfielder Matt Witko’s three goals and two assists. Hunter Berman had two goals.
Also of note today, Irvington played the first varsity game in school history, and lost 8-4 at Hastings, and Fordham Prep picked up its second straight shutout, beating Mount St. Vincent 14-0.
